Mason Mays blasted a grand slam home run in the top of the first inning and pitched six shutout innings on the mound to lead Amarillo High to a 6-0 win over Grapevine last night in Abilene.

Mays allowed just four hits to the Mustangs before Aaron Haase came on in the 7th to put the finishing touches on the game one win.  Game two of the Regional Semifinal series is Saturday at 12 noon, back at Abilene Christian University.

- Tonight, Randall plays the opener of its Regional Semifinal against Colleyville Heritage.  The teams meet at Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. The Raiders will have to deal with a Panthers team which has just four losses all season and features a pitcher who is the strikeout leader in the state in Class 5A as well as two players whose fathers played for the Texas Rangers.

- In softball, the Canyon Lady Eagles beat El Paso Chapin 5-1 in Seminole. Kyra Lair continued her dominance on the mound and Bryn Owen and Dakota Newsome slugged home runs.  Game two is today at 11 A.M. today in Seminole.

– The West Texas A&M women’s track & field team is in first place after the first day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.  Fatim Affessi and Rellie Kaputin finished 1-2 in the long jump, giving the Lady Buffs 18 points with Chico State in second with 16 and Chadron State is third with 14 points.

Affessi won the long jump with a school record jump of 6.68 meters (21-11) on her second attempt as Kaputin was second with a personal best leap of 6.53 meters (21-5.25).

- Texas Tech stayed alive in the Big 12 Baseball Tournament yesterday with a 4-1 win over Baylor.  Second seed TCU eliminated Oklahoma 9-4. In the winners’ bracket Oklahoma State beat West Virginia 8-4 and Texas edged Kansas 5-4.

Two more elimination games are coming up today in Oklahoma City. Texas Tech will take on West Virginia and TCU battles Kansas.

- Jake Marisnick hit a tiebreaking home run in the eighth inning for Houston's fourth homer of the game, lifting the Astros to a 7-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers Thursday night. Ken Giles got the last three outs for his 13th save as the Astros won three of four from the Tigers.

 - The Boston Red Sox took a 6-2 victory over the Texas Rangers Thursday night. Elvis Andrus homered and Nomar Mazara had two hits and an RBI for Texas, which has lost four of five overall and has lost 15 of 21 on the road.

LeBron James scored 35 points and passed Michael Jordan to become the NBA's all-time playoff scoring leader as the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Boston Celtics 135-102 on Thursday night to claim their third straight Eastern Conference title and another trip to the NBA Finals to meet the Golden State Warriors.

Kyrie Irving added 24 points and Kevin Love finished with 15 for the Cavs, who never trailed and led by as many as 39 points in one of their most dominating wins of the series.

- Kelly Kraft, Derek Fathauer and PGA Tour rookie J.T. Poston all shot 5-under 65 on Thursday to share the lead after the first round at Colonial. Jon Rahm, Scott Brown and Graeme McDowell followed at 66 in Fort Worth. Two-time Colonial champions Phil Mickelson and Zach Johnson both birdied their last three holes and were among six players with rounds of 67.
