You're not alone in dealing with sticker shock when it comes to food. Even restaurants are struggling with having to pay more.

Some Restaurants Are Closing

It's true. The prices have gotten to the point that some businesses have chosen to close up and hopefully ride out the higher prices. The idea is that the prices will eventually come down and settle.

Once that happens, hopefully they're able to reopen.

I've had the pleasure of eating at Fry Daddy J's twice. Both times, I was very pleased with what I ordered. It's a shame to see them make this decision, and I wish them all of the luck. Hopefully I get a third time.

Some Restaurants Are Raising Their Prices To Compensate

Other restaurants are upping the price to help compensate for their higher prices. Usually, this isn't more than a dollar or two. My wife and I have noticed an increase at some of our favorite places. It isn't a massive increase, but it's noticeable.

Others Are "Restructuring"

We've seen posts from other restaurants regarding "restructuring." Not only is the cost of food going up, but there's also the issue of hiring more employees.

Hiring on new, or more, employees isn't always the easiest task to accomplish. I'm not sure when the last time you filled out an application and went through the interview process was, but it isn't as simple as it used to be.

That stuff takes a lot of time nowadays.

Who Is The Culprit?

Easy answer? You could say two words; supply chain. That's what we see most in headlines and reports. Shortages from products to people who can deliver them have made prices go up.

Will it get better any time soon? I wish, but the outlook for the holidays isn't necessarily good. We're already hearing reports of turkey shortages and higher prices.
