The for-lease sign next to the former On The Border Restaurant claims the property has been leased. The owner of the building says otherwise. The boarded-up windows and the downed parking light in the parking lot is an eyesore. The dispute between the owner of the property where On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina operated is seeking a new tenant for lease, despite the restaurant company's claims that the real estate listing was is in error.

After some digging, I discovered the Potter-Randall Appraisal District records show the one-acre site at 2401 S. Soncy Road is owned by the Ruth Staley Trust. It contains the 6,545-square-foot property. The combined appraised taxable value of both building and land is nearly $1.2 million, according to PRAD. It is unclear if property taxes have been paid on this site.

Yesterday after shopping at Sam’s Club I noticed several utility type trucks with The Maggiano’s Little Italy logo on the doors. The Dallas based company had no comment when reached for information about possibly moving into the Soncy Road location.

Stand by.
