Trade-A-Thon Address Amarillo’s Prolific Road Construction
Another Saturday of buying, selling, and trading is a part of radio history.
It's want ads on the radio called in by our listeners and we present it Saturday mornings from 9-Noon. As always, we have a line open for you.
THE BIG QUESTION
We ask all our callers a poll question before they give their listing. It helps us get to know them better, ties our calls together with a theme, and sometimes shines the light on a current issue.
A current issue was the choice this week. After three weeks of questions regarding ice cream, we got a little more serious. With the closing and demolition of the Bell Street overpass at I-40, making I-40 even more of a hassle, we thought it was a good topic to explore.
Every day motorists are asking themselves the same question. Take I-40 with it's delays or try to drive around it with congestion of other drivers who thought the same thing. Seemed like a good question for us to ask.
Which is worse, traveling through I-40 or trying to drive around it?
Travel through 12
Drive around 15
A pretty close vote either way. The best answer is, whichever way you go, allow for more time to get where you are going and plan for plenty of traffic.
RULE #6
We go over the rules of the show at the beginning of each hour. Along with the regular five rules, I always bring you a special Rule #6 that changes every week. It is usually inspired by something that happened to me over the last week.
I was traveling with a friend through the city riding shotgun last week. We came upon some road construction and eventually a flagman. He was motioning us to go a direction my friend did not want to go. To my shock, my friend flipped off the flagman with his extended middle finger. Seemingly nonplussed, the flagman returned the gesture and again insistently pointed us in a different direction. My friend complied. I then said something I knew instantly had to be a Rule #6.
RULE #6: It would be really helpful for all of us if you didn't flip off the construction workers.
Drive safely, avoid what you can, peacefully endure what you can't. And make plans to join us for another Erwin Pawn Trade-A-Thon this Saturday from nine-noon on News Talk 940, KIXZ!
