Ranked Teams Battle in High School Volleyball
Three matches involving teams in the top 25 in their respective classes highlighted Tuesday's high school volleyball schedule.
Randall stayed undefeated in the District 3-5A volleyball race with a 4-set win over Amarillo High on Tuesday. The Lady Raiders improve to 27-5, 7-0 in 3-5A. Amarillo High is 23-12, 5-2. The win came on the same day the Lady Raiders took over the number one ranking in the state in Class 5A in the Texas Girls Coaches Association poll.
Despite the loss, Amarillo High is 19th in the 5A rankings.
Bushland is ranked 9th in Class 3A while Friona is 8th. Those two teams met last night with the Lady Falcons winning that big battle.
In 2A, Highland Park is 6th in the poll and Sanford-Fritch is 25th. They also met last night with Sanford-Fritch pulling off the upset in three close sets.
Other results last night included Tascosa opening District 2-6A play with a win on the road at Midland Lee in five sets. The Lady Rebels won 16-14 in the 5th set to take the match.
Caprock fell to Coronado, Palo Duro won over Lubbock High, and River Road defeated Dimmitt.
