While students across the Amarillo area are still off on Spring break, superintendents and school leaders from Amarillo, Canyon, Bushland, River Road, and Highland Park ISD's have made the decision to extend the break for at least another week. While the video above references that there are no confirmed cases in the Amarillo area, they said it is important to take a precautionary approach for the safety of students, faculty, and staff.

Officials say that with thousands of students and their families traveling during the break, they want to take the steps to stay safe for when those students return back to class. There is no date set yet for when students return to class, and one official says that when they do, it will likely be from home. The ISD's are developing a plan for when and how the students will receive their classwork. The also said plans are being made to continue meals for students even while at home.
