A case of jaywalking turned into a lot more for four Amarillo residents early Sunday morning.

Sunday morning shortly after 1am the APD stopped 32-year-old Maxine Elizabeth Cates while she was walking in the middle of the road at 5th and South Houston.  Cates was wanted for a probation violation on an original charge of forgery of a financial instrument and a municipal court warrant.

Cates was carrying three cell phones, two cell phone memory cards and a flashlight.  Officers received a warrant to search her residence and accompanied her there.

Offices found at the residence drug paraphernalia, numerous electronics, a .25 caliber handgun and a .40 caliber handgun that had been reported stolen.  Police also found 30 forms of personal identification that did not belong to any of the people at the residence.  10 grams of meth, a small amount of marijuana and several narcotics items were also found and seized by police.

The police arrested Cates and three other people at the residence on various charges.  Five other people in the residence were released pending the investigation.
