The Randall County Sheriff's Special Operations Unit executed a search warrant yesterday in Southeast Amarillo.

According to Randall County Sheriff's the raid was executed around 10:00am Monday morning at 3610 South Western.  That address is across the street from Paramount Terrance Elementary School, a Drug Free Zone.

Inside the residence the authorities found $3,000 worth of methamphetamine and a firearm with the serial number removed.

Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Edward Beard was taken into custody at the residence and charged with Manufacture/Delivery/Controlled Sustance Penalty Group 1 in a Drug Free Zone and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.

Beard was booked into the Randall County Jail on those charges, both First Degree Felony charges.

Any location within 1000 feet of premises owned, rented, or leased by an institution of higher learning, the premises of a public or private youth center or a playground and additionally within 300 feet of the premises of a public swimming pool, video arcade facility, or a school bus are all considered Drug Free Zones under Texas law.
