    Rocky Horror Picture Show

This one shocked me. While there is some debate as to whether or not it is Denton, Texas or Denton, Ohio the film is set in, that didn't stop our Denton from capitalizing on a chance at a bit of notoriety. They even put up a billboard at one time mimicking the billboard in the film seen during the wedding scene claiming Denton is "The Home of Happiness."

    Grindhouse

The double feature from the minds of Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez, both films are set in Texas. Death Proof, starring Kurt Russel and Rosario Dawson, is set in Austin. Kurt Russel plays a killer who uses his hot rod to cause mayhem in a throwback to the gear head films of old. Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" is set in Small Town, Texas and deals with a military base that accidentally spawns a zombie infested gore-fest. Bruce Willis stars in that one along with Rose McGowan. Danny Trejo even appears in his classic "Machete" role.

    House of 1000 Corpses / Devil's Rejects

Set in the "backwoods" of Texas, it all begins with couples traveling the country looking for odd roadside features. They are eventually led to the Firefly family house where murder, mayhem, and Dr. Satan reign supreme. The house used in the films as the family home is the same house used in "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas."

    The Town That Dreaded Sundown

This film is a horror classic, loosely based on the actual Phantom Killer who terrorized the town of Texarkana, Texas in 1946. A sequel of sorts was released in 2014. The Phantom Killer was never caught.

    Frailty

Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey star in this supernatural/psychological thriller where a father is convinced he is doing the Lord's work killing demons. Except they aren't demons. They're just people. Or are they? Lots of twists and turns in this one, and it continuously keeps you guessing as to whether or not everyone is insane. This film is based in Dallas.
