What Is The Construction For At 10th And Polk In Amarillo?
On a recent trip downtown, I pulled up at a red light on 10th and Polk to a lot of construction going on. If you're wondering what's going in, it's a new home for something that's been around for quite some time.
So what is the construction for at 10th and Polk?
A New Home For The Amarillo Area Foundation
The construction going on is for the new home of the Amarillo Area Foundation. You can tell how long it has been since I've been in that area. A quick scroll through their Facebook page, and you'll find a construction update from them in August.
I need to start making more trips downtown apparently.
What Is The Amarillo Area Foundation?
This is something I learned today, myself. The Amarillo Area Foundation is a nonprofit organization that, according to their website, services 400,000 people in the Texas panhandle.
They really take the "area" part of it seriously. The description on their Facebook page points out that it's 26 counties.
They tackle issues and challenges facing panhandle communities by working with nonprofit organizations and philanthropists in the area.
Their website is host to a ton of information.
Giving Along With Education
Another aspect of the Amarillo Area Foundation I found interesting was the number of workshops they host. These range in topics, and for the most part seemed geared towards helping nonprofits in the area be successful.
