The Story of the Sad and Lonely Lost Trailer in Amarillo

Yesterday morning started off like any other weekday morning. Way too early. We always joke about the worst thing about morning radio was that it was so early in the morning. Heck, if we could start it at like noon then we would be golden.

That is not the case. I tried to leave for work before five am like I do every morning. I had a station vehicle because I had an event that was close to my house the night before so I thought why drive extra when I can just head home.

I don't even know what made me look down my long and narrow driveway so early in the morning but I did. Oh, and I am glad that I did. Otherwise, I would have hit something that I did not expect to find in my driveway.

A Trailer. What is a trailer doing in my driveway? I don't own a trailer. I don't own a vehicle that has a hitch to attach a trailer. What is going on here?

I call my boss first. I know I couldn't maneuver the station van around the trailer to get out. I tried to move the trailer but I couldn't by myself. He lived nearby so I thought maybe he could lend me his big strong muscles.

No answer.

So the next step and I didn't want to do it, was to wake up my daughter. Once she woke up and had her, "why is there a trailer in our driveway?" moment, she came outside with me.

It took both of us to move it into my front yard and out of my way. The problem is I still have a trailer in my yard. It's not mine. I need to find the owner. Oh, and what if it was stolen and left on my property?

I had to go there. Of course. It is a possibility. So I contacted my neighbor who is a police officer. Hopefully, he can run the plates. It may have been someone who innocently borrowed from someone and dropped it off at the wrong address. I have no idea.

Until then if this is your trailer let me know. I mean you will have to identify the plate number to claim it.

But go home trailer, you're drunk. Get out of my yard.

The Abandoned St. Anthony's Hospital on Amarillo Boulevard

The 119-year-old abandoned hospital is a fascinating place for any who are lucky enough to be granted the chance to explore.

The sprawling building saw thousands of Amarillo's citizens inside its halls daily, all the the way until it was shuttered in 2001. But there are still incredible artifacts of the all-too-recent past tucked away in the nooks and crannies of the old St. Anthony.

The explorer who took these photographs gave the following information:

"Many rooms were left untouched, we found patient files, old prescriptions, a blood transfusion machine from the 60s, and microscopic slides of breast cancer from the 70s and 80s. I put one picture in here of some heart scans so you can see the dates and diagnosis of the patient, but marked out the patient’s names of course. During a time when mental illness was not understood, 76 exorcisms were documented to have been performed between 1909 and 1931."

The Eerie Abandoned Puckett Place Apartments of Amarillo

The Puckett Place apartments at 3447 Amherst St. have been a vacant and in disrepair for well over a decade. The building has finally been slated for renovation and at long last, Puckett Place will see a new life.

In the meantime, here's a glimpse at the strange and derelict beauty that is the abandoned Puckett Place.

The Abandoned School House Outside of Canyon, Texas

This was once the Jowell School. Built in 1901, the building was the cornerstone of the teeny tiny farming community of Jowell.

The building had been rebuilt and restored in the late '80s or 90s before vandals destroyed it in an act of arson. What remains of the Jowell School sits in a desolate part of rolling farmland between the small towns of Canyon and Happy, Texas.
