A man was shot and killed last night during an attempted robbery.

From the Amarillo Police Department:

A white male entered the back door of La Bella Pizza armed with a silver handgun.  The suspect grabbed an employee by the hood of his sweatshirt and forced the employee to walk to the front of the business.  As they came to the doorway to the front of the establishment, a employee armed with a gun (which had a concealed firearm license), confronted the suspect.  The suspect then pointed his weapon at the employee, when the employee shot the suspect.    The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The suspect was identified as Clayton Jerrell Morgan age 36.  Another suspect Ruben Ryel was apprehended and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on a murder charge.

The gun the suspect was carrying was a BB or pellet gun that was made to look like a real gun.

According to different reports, police along with ambulance services were called out to the La Bella Pizza on Olsen, around 10:30pm after an attempted robbery and shooting.

A man walked into the back of the business last night and grabbed an employee as a hostage and threatened the employee with a weapon.

During the attempt, the suspect of the robbery was shot by one of the employees.  The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
