Man Turns Himself in for Role in Capitol Riot, Appears in Lubbock

Leonardo Gruppo of Lubbock has turned himself in to police for his role in the US Capitol riots that happened back on January 6th, 2021.

KAMC News reports that Gruppo's age and hometown have not been listed, but he was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority. He was represented by an attorney in Lubbock, who stood in for an attorney that was based in Clovis, New Mexico.

Gruppo was allowed to go free on a personal recognizance bond on Tuesday, June 1st. The conditions of his release include a prohibition on traveling outside the Northern District of Texas without permission, which includes all of the South Plains, Panhandle, Rolling Plains, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He must not be in possession of a firearm or drink alcohol excessively.

Gruppo;s other terms of release: he must not associate with any other person charged with the same offense, meaning anyone else who was involved in the January 6th riots; must not enter any federal property without approval from US Probation and Pretrial Services; must not attend any rally, protest or similar activity without permission; and must not enter Washington DC except for court, pretrial supervision purposes or attorney consultation.
