One of my favorite things about the internet is how it can serve as an amazing archive of stories, photos, and videos from the past. Things that were once thought to be lost forever can turn up and give us a glimpse back in time.

Want a great blast from the past? Watch this video of 1970s Amarillo Dragway.

Amarillo Dragway Hosted NHRA Finals In 1970?

Apparently, they did. This video from 1970 features everything you would expect from a classic newsreel. You have the very official and knowledgeable narrator. There's even a little drama thrown in the mix over one of the drivers and his vehicle.

The crowd is massive. Every shot of those gathered to watch shows stands stuffed full of spectators.

Brace Yourself For One Heck Of A Throwback

I love this video. Everything about it brings back memories. The clothing styles. The hats. The glasses. The sideburns. Even the lettering on the signs takes me back.

Even the film quality reminds me of sitting in the floor cross-legged watching TV.

The only thing that doesn't just drag me back to yesteryear is the music at times. Call me crazy, but it seems a little...modern, at times.

An Interesting Glimpse Behind The Scenes Of Drag Racing

There's more here than just the sheer nostalgic value that the video gives you is the look behind the scenes. There's footage from inside the tower, in the pit, and there's even a look at what all goes into being a drag racer.

Take a look at the video above, and see if you recognize anyone in the crowd from 1970 at the Amarillo Dragway.
