This was one of those stories I really hated to see. I hate seeing any business close down but this is one that I have gone to many of times. See it is in Downtown Amarillo and right by one of my workplaces. So this was a bummer to see over the weekend happen.

I know covid hit a lot of businesses. They have tried to adapt. Moondoggy's was hit hard because a lot of the Downtown businesses haven't opened fully. So with that less and less foot traffic.

They tried to save the place by just being opened over the weekends. They were hoping that the weekend traffic would pick up and help to make sure they survived. Apparently in the end it wasn't meant to be. I loved their calzones and I loved their pizza. It was one of my daughter's favorite places to go when she was in town visiting. So yes this was some sad news to read about.

The announcement from Moondoggy's Facebook page:

We have unfortunately had to make the very difficult decision to close our doors. With everything going on in the world right now we are unable to thrive. We tried so very hard to keep going but at this time we were just unable to make that happen. We would like to thank everyone that came out and showed their support. We hope to possibly re-open one day in the future. Please join us for a beer and food close out this Saturday from 2:00-6:00. All beer will be $1 and all food that we have remaining will be 1/2 off. Thank you again.

I am in keeping my fingers crossed that like their post said that they are in hopes to possibly re-open one day in the future. That does give me some hope. We have already lost some really good places this year.

Let's hope for a more restaurant friendly time soon. Amarillo needs more of those.
