City of Amarillo Preparing For National Cleanup Day on Saturday
There's a "national day" for just about everything, even cleaning up. National Cleanup Day is Saturday (9/18) and the City of Amarillo is planning on doing its part to help.
City of Amarillo to Tackle Alleys
According to a press release put out earlier today, the City of Amarillo is going to be out with heavy equipment and workers cleaning up alleys in the following neighborhoods:
- Barrio
- North Heights
- San Jacinto
- Eastridge
Where To Volunteer
The Barrio Neighborhood cleanup kicks off at 9 AM at Sanborn Elementary. The North Heights cleanup starts at 8 AM and the Warford Activity Center.
The San Jacinto Neighborhood Cleanup gets going at 9 AM at the San Jacinto Elementary parking lot. The Eastridge Neighborhood Cleanup starts at 8 AM at the Eastridge Baptist Church.
Also, Keep Amarillo Clean will be conducting a city-wide cleanup and will be meeting at any elementary school parking lot at 9 AM.
Where To Take Your Trash
There are roll-off containers that will be placed in every quadrant of the city. Basically, every neighborhood will have a series of these containers in place for you to dump the trash in.
The City does ask that you make sure to use these containers so that they will be able to get an accurate weight and report the tonnage to the National Cleanup Day organizers.
The containers are being provided by Republic Services, who will also have personnel on hand for the day.
