National S'mores Day is coming up on Friday, August 10th.    A day to celebrate the ooey gooey goodness of graham crackers, roasted marshmallows and chocolate.   It makes me want to drool just thinking about it.

Although no one knows who invented the S'more, but we do know that the first published recipe for the S'more was published by the Girl Scouts in 1927.  The recipe was called "Some Mores" and it was in the Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts with credit going to Loretta Scott Crew.

On Friday, you have the opportunity to celebrate the S'more while helping out our local Girl Scouts.   One of our local bakeries is stepping up and creating some delectable S'more treats.

Scratch Made Bakery & Brunchery will have cookies, cupcakes and brunch items all inspired by the S'more.  A portion of sales on Friday will help out the Girl Scouts.

“... we’re thrilled to help support Girl Scouts by creating these special treats that will bring back fond campout memories,” said McKinzie Hodges, co-owner of Scratch Made Bakery & Brunchery. “One of our National S’more Day features will be a specially-designed cookie that represents Girl Scouts’ Troop Camping-Eco Camper Badge, which is all about enjoying camping while protecting nature,” she added. More than 3,000 girls and 700 adults participate in Girl Scouts in the Texas Oklahoma panhandle area.

Scratch Made Bakery & Brunchery is located at 118 SW 6th.  They will be serving up all those delicious S'more treats from 10:30am - 6pm.
