Canyon native Michael Stigler finished 2nd in the 400 meter hurdles in the United States Outdoor Track and Field Championships Sunday.

Stigler's surge down the stretch gave him a time of 48.26 seconds. With his 2nd place finish, Stigler earns a spot on the national team and will compete in the World Championships in London in August.

- Florida moved to the College World Series finals with a 3-0 win over TCU yesterday. The No. 3 national seed Florida will play No. 4 seed LSU in the best-of-three finals beginning tonight in Omaha, Nebraska.

- The Houston Astros wrapped up another winning road trip, beating the Seattle Mariners 8-2. The Astros went 6-1 on this swing and improved to a major league-best 29-9 on the road. They also own the top record in baseball at 52-25.

Houston returns home to host the A’s tonight.

- Adrian Beltre, Shin-Soo Choo and Drew Robinson each homered to build a seven-run lead, and the Texas Rangers held on to beat the New York Yankees 7-6. The Rangers take two of three in New York.

The road trip continues in Cleveland tonight.

- The Los Angeles Angels beat Boston 4-2.  Parker Bridwell of Hereford started for LA and picked up the win with 6 2/3 innings of 2-run ball.

- Jordan Spieth holed out from 60 feet for birdie from a greenside bunker on the first hole of a playoff with Daniel Berger to win the Travelers Championship. The 23-year-old Spieth joined Tiger Woods as the only players in the modern era with 10 victories before the turned 24.

- Locally, Brayden Cruth shot an even par 72 to win the Happy State Bank Tall Tower Open yesterday at Ross Rogers Mustang Course.  Cruth rolled in an 18-foot birdie putt at the final hole to edge Casey Weiss by one shot and qualify for the season-ending Tournament of Champions.

- Kevin Harvick returned to victory lane for the first time this season with a dominating run Sunday on the road course at Sonoma Raceway. The former NASCAR champion came to Sonoma winless in the last 20 races. Clint Bowyer was second and Brad Keselowski third.
