Buffs Comeback Falls Short in Stephenville
In a tale of two halves, the West Texas A&M football team dug itself a 27-0 hole before rallying in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough as Tarleton State beat the Buffaloes 30-20 Saturday evening in Stephenville.
The story might have been different if WT had been able to finish off strong drives in the game. The Buffs had three drives that ended with missed field goals.
WT tallied 22 first downs in the game and held a 407-359 advantage in total yards, which marked a season-high for the Buffs.
Justin Houghtaling was 17 of 38 passing for a season-high 272 yards, one interception and a rushing touchdown. He had 37 yards on six carries on the ground.
The Buffs return home to host Eastern New Mexico next Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in the annual Wagon Wheel Game.
