Awesome Day Trips That Are Only 6 Hours Or Less Away From Amarillo

You know what I've learned in my short time here in Amarillo so far? We are so incredibly close to a lot of different places to sneak away for the day it's crazy. I decided to look up some places that could be fun to go to for a day and not have to spend a crazy amount of money to take a "vacation". Here are my top two destination picks.

Fort Worth Zoo

If you're looking for a place that has a little bit of something for everyone, this is your spot. The Fort Worth Zoo is widely recognized as one of the best zoos in the country, and with roughly 7000 animals there to check out, you will undoubtedly be entranced by something there. It's about a 5 hour trip each way, so you can easily make it a day trip.

Garden of the Gods

Head on into Colorado for a day at Garden of the Gods. I spent a lot of time living in Colorado, and I can tell you that this place is an absolute must visit at some point in your life. Beyond its natural beauty, you can do rock climbing, Jeep tours and even rent electric bikes to explore around on. The view of the mountains alone is worth the trip, which will take you about 5 1/2 hours each way.
