APD Need Help Locating Shameless Criminal Who Hit Motorcycle Cop
Is it just me or are people losing their minds? It's possible it's the heat but it's also possible that people have lost all respect for authority.
First of all, I know that a lot of people don't think highly of Amarillo Motorcycle Officers. However, they are just police officers doing their jobs, and yes they do conduct a lot of traffic stops.
An Amarillo Police Officer was put in danger on Sunday, July 10th. This APD motorcycle officer was conducting a traffic stop at McMasters and SW 3rd Avenue. After stopping the vehicle, the suspect in the vehicle decided they were going to back into the officer. The officer and bike were pushed back 20 feet. The suspect took off and fled northbound on McMasters.
The APD officer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Amarillo Police need your help in identifying this suspect. The vehicle is described as a small black car. If you have any information on this incident or the suspect or vehicle in question, contact the Amarillo Police Department at 806-378-3038 or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400. You can also leave an anonymous tip at amapolice.org.
Hopefully, this suspect will be found.
Who knows why this person decided to run?
They may have warrants and didn't want to go to jail, but now this person is facing serious charges because they harmed a police officer.
If they wanted to race a cop all they had to do was sign up for the July 23rd event. This certainly wasn't the way to go about it.
We wish the officer injured a speedy recovery.
