Another Weird Day in Amarillo – The Day the Gas Ran Out?
Hodgetown had a moment when they lost power. It was only for about twenty minutes but it happened. If that is not enough we also found out that Amarillo was about to become a little more stinky. Since the city was going to cut down on trash pick-ups in our alleys.
So what was going to happen next? If you had money on Toot n Totum running out of gas, then winner-winner chicken dinner. Really? That didn't happen, did it? Oh, but it did. At least at the I40 and Georgia location on Tuesday. I blame, once again, the record-breaking 108 temperature for sucking out all the gas.
Sorry I missed the last drop? Of gas? At a gas station. You had one job Toot n Totum. To make sure you have gas when I need it. I guess Amarillo is lucky to have a Toot n Totum on every corner so most people needing gas didn't have to go far.
Heck on Georgia Street alone there is a Toot n Totum right next to Market Street and another one in walking distance at 34th and Georgia. I am just glad that I wasn't coasting in to get gas.
I am not sure if the gas shortage was limited to that location or if there were several around town that had those nice signs up. Luckily they were all gone the next morning.
I didn't want to take any chances so what did I do? I went to Market Street, the grocery store, and was able to find the gas I needed.
