The City of Amarillo has announced that effective Monday, March 23, all city facilities will begin limiting face-to-face interactions. The temporary adjustment is being made in an effort to mitigate the potential spread of the Coronavirus and COVID-19 in Amarillo and the surrounding area, and to protect both city employees and the community. To every extent possible, city business will be conducted over the phone or online.

“This isn’t a shut down,” said City Manager Jared Miller. “We are modifying our business practices to ensure we can continue to provide all of the necessary services for our community while mitigating the spread of Coronavirus.”

With limiting face-to-face interactions, that means many departments will either conduct business online or over the phone and will not be open to the public.
