It's that time of year again where almost everyone has gone full on Christmas.

People have decked out their houses with lights, Christmas music is everywhere you go and Christmas-themed movies and shows are on almost every channel.

One of my favorite things about the holiday season are the movies. They have some of the most iconic characters. Like Buddy from Elf, Ralphie from A Christmas Story, Willie from Bad Santa, Cindy Lou Who and the Grinch from How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

But the one movie that has the most memorable characters is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. You've got bona fide characters like Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), Ellen Griswold (Beverly D'Angelo) and everyone's favorite Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid).

I was watching Christmas Vacation the other day when I had a thought: Amarillo and its surrounding cities are relatively similar to the characters in the movie.

Now, before you call me crazy.....just hear me out.....

If Amarillo Area Cities Were Christmas Vacation Characters

With the holidays now in full swing, I had a lightbulb go off while watching "Christmas Vacation" I started to see the similarities between the characters and cities around Amarillo. This is what I came up with.

With the holiday spirit in the air, it’s the perfect time to dive into the history of iconic holiday gifts. Using national toy archives and data curated by The Strong from 1920 to today, Stacker searched for products that caught hold of the public zeitgeist through novelty, innovation, kitsch, quirk, or simply great timing, and then rocketed to success.
