Amarillo Buildings That Seem to Be Cursed – 2110 S. Western
Amarillo is a vast city with a lot of buildings, and some of these buildings seem to be a curse for business, it's not long after they move in, they move out or they close forever.
This edition of Cursed Amarillo Buildings we are focusing on the building located at 2110 S. Western, next to the Waffle House and IHOP.
This poor building has been so many businesses over the years. It was built in 1983.
Here's a few of the businesses that have occupied it since 2007.
Affordable Dentures
This was a place people could go to get dentures, partials, implants etc. Affordable Dentures occupied this building til 2011
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Texas Panhandle
BBBS occupied this building from 2012-2018, they moved into their new location on Ridgecrest Circle, just before I started working with them in 2019.
A Barber Shop That Didn't Open
Apparently a barber shop was going to move into this building after BBBS, but for some reason I believe the doors never opened. But as you can tell by the banner on the awning, it was the going to be the Best Barber Shop in Texas.
Still Empty in 2021
This building sat empty for about 2 years.
Cedar's Mediterranean Restaurant
This is a new restaurant that opened in Amarillo on December 3, 2021. They are open for dine-in, delivery, and take out. This is the current occupant of 2110 S. Western. Hopefully, they will break the curse of this building and keep serving up their great Mediterranean fare.
Cedar's closed its doors in October 2022.
Rumor has it a 7 Brew Coffee will be opening in this location in 2023. The rumor was true it opened in October 2023!
Even before 2007, I believe this building had its start as a bank. It has been multiple restaurants, I swear at one point in time it was a Quizno's. It also homed Bless Your Heart. It has also been dentist's office before Affordable Dentures. If memory serves, it once house an optometrist and a place to buy glasses.
