Our next winter storm is taking shape and the computer models are beginning to agree that Amarillo is in store for another winter storm. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch on Sunday afternoon that will be in affect starting 6:00pm on Monday evening. The timing of the storm looks to be late Monday night / Tuesday morning and through the day on Tuesday.

There are two parts of the system that will bring in the wintry weather. The first and smaller system will bring some rain showers and the chance of some light freezing rain. The second part of the storm which is the main system and the larger weather maker, will be right behind with the bulk of the predicted snow. The Amarillo area will see its highest impacts from this storm early Tuesday morning through late afternoon. Right now, the forecast is looking good for a 4"-6" snowfall around the Amarillo area. Heavier amounts could occur with some bands of heavier precipitation.

As always, there is still time for the forecast to shift and change. There may also be a time where the Winter Storm Watch is upgraded to a Warning. Stay with us as we continue to update this page throughout the day on Monday and stay connected to our weather partners at ABC 7 KVII.
