CHANGES ON THE FUTURE I-69

Of course, most of you are aware of the project that will change US Highway 59 to Interstate Highway 69. Some drastic changes have been made already, but what makes a US Highway an Interstate Highway? Here is the answer that TXDOT provided to me, " Control of access – there are no driveways.  There is control of entrances and exits onto and off of the freeway.

Unlike highways which are controlled-access or limited access roadways, interstates are restricted access roadways that go across state boundaries to connect different states. Highways serve major centers of metropolitan areas including major cities and towns, whereas interstates connect different states together or in I-69's case, different countries.  I can't wait to see what businesses will start popping up along I-69 when it is completed!

I-69 is currently being developed as a series of incremental upgrades to existing highways stretching from Laredo and the Lower Rio Grande Valley north to Victoria, Houston, Lufkin, and Texarkana on US 59, US 77, US 281, and SH 44

ANOTHER TXDOT PROJECT...

TXDOT is planning for another median project along Rio Grande and Houston Highway(Business 59). The proposed new median will be almost four miles long and like the current median, will have left-turn lanes at various points. You will also see more street lighting and sidewalks as well, with this project. Just a little clarification about the median. The City of Victoria has nothing to do with the medians.  The medians are projects of the Texas Department of Transportation.
