This Beloved Food Truck From The Amarillo Area Is Closing
I hate to be the bearer of bad news for BBQ lovers in the Amarillo area but a locally beloved food truck has recently announced its closure.
An announcement was made yesterday on Holey Smoke's Facebook page publicizing that they will be closing their truck for good. This announcement was made days after a sudden closure on the 6th of August, which seemingly had no explanation behind it.
We reached out to the Holey Smokes team to comment on why they may have closed but received no response.
The Holey Smokes food truck opened in late 2020, which was a difficult time for all types of businesses around the Amarillo, area especially businesses that were starting. But Holey Smokes prevailed through this tough time and thrived in the next few years of its life.
Their menu was diverse, putting unexpected twists on BBQ entrees while also staying true to the BBQ food truck spirit. Pork belly nachos, Burnt end nachos, and Korean Meatballs on a Stick are just a few examples of the unexpected, yet amazing BBQ items on their menu.
Despite the amazing reception from its patrons, it seems that some unexpected issues may have led to its sudden closure.
Seeing any local food establishment go under is always a sad sight to see, especially if you are a fan of what they have to offer in terms of flavor. The familiarity, the convenience, and most importantly, that home-cooked feeling that you get from the meals provided by small, locally owned operations are something that cannot be replicated.
But alas, all good things come to an end, and in this case, it was a sad one to see. We hope the family behind this amazing food truck is doing fine. And from the bottom of our hearts and bellies, we have to say that will miss you Holey Smokes.
