The Problem With Dining In Amarillo
Its time to acknowledge this problem about Amarillo and it's food.
When it comes to having a diverse selection of food, there's not a very wide selection of food here. When it comes to casual dining, chain restaurants like Walk-Ons, Cheddars, Saltgrass and so many more pretty much dominate the dining landscape.
Even on the more local level of restruants , it's somewhat limited to what we can get. Italian, Asian, Mexican and a small handfull of concept restruants give a little more "variety" when it comes to dining.
But if you want to expand your pallete and maybe try out some Polish, Hawaiian, Greek, or even Carribean food chances are if you live in Amarillo, your out of luck.
I will give credit where credit is due, we do have a small selection of more diverse cusine that includes but is not limited to Spanish, Cajun and even Ethiopian food. But is that all we have??
There have been some tries at opening places like Medditerrainian restruants in Amarillo like Cedars for example, but they have not lasted long. And places like Cedars actually had pretty good food, having a 4.5 star rating on Google which means that people had to of liked the food. But then how did they not manage to stay open if that was the case?
All that am saying is that although I love what Amarillo has to offer in terms of cuisine, I know and believe that we can do so much more. Perhaps its due to our demographics or our size at the moment, I don't know.
If there's one thing that I hope for Amarillo in it's future that would be a wider selection of cuisine to try as we grow.
