Growing up, I loved the Fourth of July. As a teen, I worked at a fireworks stand. Every year, Fourth of July meant fireworks, and fireworks thieves.

It's big problem. One year, a stand that I worked at got hit and a lot of inventory was taken. It was a big loss for the owners, and they wound up having to take on even more staff overnight to protect their business.

It's an issue that local firework stands have to deal with every year. One stand recently got hit and over five thousand dollars of inventory was taken, along with two credit card machines.

Forehand's Fireworks is asking for any information regarding the theft that anyone might have.

A theft like this can really damage what is usually just a seasonal, sometimes family operated, business. I've known several people in my lifetime who have owned a stand, and it isn't like they're getting filthy rich off of them.

When it comes to the Fourth of July, the Canyon Chamber of Commerce did release an update earlier today stating that all of the Fourth of July activities will continue as scheduled. Rain, or shine.

If you're going to be at the parade in Canyon on Saturday, I'll see you there. After missing out last year, I'm excited to get to be in and see the parade again this year.

Amarillo On 'America's Most Wanted'

I was surprised to find out recently that we also have a bit of a history with the show America's Most Wanted.

Digging through old news articles, I found several separate occasions where Amarillo and America's Most Wanted crossed paths. It makes me wonder if there are some that I've missed.
