Each year the Palo Duro Cowboy Church hosts the Cowboy Nativity and this year was the first year I was able to go and see it live and it was amazing.

Driving into the church parking lot, everyone was so friendly and kind and directed us where to go.  The further you pull in you were greeted by some wonderful cowgirls who offered up hot chocolate and cookies.  Bonus!  They were homemade cookies, I got white chocolate macadamia cookies and did I share? Nope, because those are my favorites.  They gave us a flyer that had the descriptions of all the scenes and it also had a QR code, if opened on your phone,  it narrated the different scenes as we drove past.

The nativity had 13 different scenes that featured the announcement of the birth of Jesus, the day Jesus was born (Christmas), the shepherds, the Wisemen, which were Native Americans.  During the time of the working cowboy, Native Americans would definitely be the Wisemen, because they were here from the beginning and knew the land very well.  They were beautiful.

It went on to depict different eras of Christ's life and even his death.

One of the beautiful things about the event was that there were riders and horses that traveled all through the Nativity and were described as the Lord's Angels and God's Army.

If you didn't get a chance to make it out this year, I truly hope you can make it next year.

Oh and a word of warning, don't hold a cup of iced tea between your legs as you are driving through.  A gust of wind came through the windows and caught the program and as I was grabbing for it, I clenched my legs together and the cup busted and covered my entire nether regions in cold iced tea.  Ugh, I should have just waited for the hot chocolate.

Here's some pictures from this amazing event.
