It reads like a story from a true crime novel. A man is found murdered in his car, in a park, with no known witnesses. Amarillo is no stranger to ABC 20/20 and NBC Dateline specials, and this case could be the next one everyone is talking about. The trail has gone cold, and Amarillo Crime Stoppers is increasing the reward to find out who killed Richard Garza. The reward has now been increased to up to $2,000 if anyone can come forward with information about what happened to Garza at Southeast Park in Amarillo.

At 4:23pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, officers were called to the park on a welfare check. A caller told dispatchers a male was slumped over behind the wheel of an orange car. When officers arrived, they found a man shot to death in his car. He was identified as Richard Pedraza also known as Richard Garza, male, age 30. What was supposed to be a special 30th birthday for Garza, ended in tragedy.

Even more tragic, there has been little information for police to go on since the murder that December day. What happened to ended up with Richard Garza dead in a city park? Amarillo Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help to solve this case. If you have any information on this crime or know who the suspect or suspects are, call Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.
