Potter County Gets $1 Million For Safe Room Shelters
While Eastern Texas has been dealing with hurricanes and tropical storms causing devastating flooding Amarillo has had a pretty quiet summer with minimal storms. But we all know that can change in the blink of an eye.
Senator John Cornyn set out a press release stating that Potter County will receive $1,000,300 to install about 300 safe rooms for shelter during dangerous weather.
This funding is a part of the Robert T. Stafford Act, which grants the Federal Government authority to assist in local disaster efforts. The Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act is a 1988 United States federal law designed to bring an orderly and systematic means of federal natural disaster assistance for state and local governments in carrying out their responsibilities to aid citizens.
Cornyn said “I’ll continue to do everything I can do to make sure Texans in Potter County are prepared for dangerous weather events in the future”
