Police Need Your Help Solving Amarillo’s First Homicide of 2022
The Amarillo Police Department has reported another shooting resulting in death. This is Amarillo's first homicide of 2022.

On Tuesday, January 25th, Amarillo 911 received a call and a hang up. The call came from the area of the corner of 9th and Buchanan Street, After reaching the location a female told the police that her boyfriend had been shot, but she didn't know the address of where it occurred.
The officers followed the female to a residence in the neighborhood near 7th and north Williams Street. When they arrived at the residence they found Jeremie Ray Gomez, 36-year-old male, dead from a gunshot wound.
As of this time, the Amarillo Police Department do not have any suspects on the shooting.

Twenty-seven homicides happened in Amarillo in 2021. Twenty-six of those homicides were shootings. So far this year Amarillo has seen at least 3 shootings, and now the first death.
The most recent shooting before the January 25th homicide took place on Monday, January 24th, at a local gaming establishment on Amarillo Blvd. John Arnold Ramzy, 38-year-old male was arrested for two accounts of Aggravated Assualt with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon. Ramzy is suspected of shooting a 48-year-old man multiple times and pointing the gun at a female. He is currently in the Potter County Detention Center.
