New Professional Indoor Soccer Team Coming to Amarillo
Amarillo Venom owner Stephanie Tucker on Wednesday announced the formation of a new indoor soccer league, which will have a team in Amarillo.
The league will officially start play in 2019 but the local team, known as FC Amarillo, will have two exhibition games this year, The first will be on Sunday, April 29th and second match on Sunday, June 3rd at the Amarillo Civic Center.
Tucker said, " We have been working on this for about 5 years. I am so exicted to be involved in something that gives this city another family friendly sporting event!"
FC Amarillo will play in what will be called the U.S. Arena Soccer League. Teams will be based in Texas and other parts of the midwestern United States.
West Texas A&M women's head soccer coach Chad Davis will coach the team. He already has a core group of players in place, some of whom played at WT.
Fans wanting to check out the exhibition games can purchase tickets at the Civic Center Box Office or any Panhandle Ticket Outlet.
