The Lubbock Police Department is warning residents of recent scammers claiming to be with the LPD.
Lubbock Police made a post on Twitter on Wednesday, November 23rd telling followers of recent reports of scam callers. These callers apparently have been telling those on the other end of the line that there is a bench warrant out for their arrest and that they need to pay money over the phone to clear things up.
The Lubbock Police Department assured that they will never ask for payment over the phone and urges citizens to hang up if they ever experience something similar.
Anyone concerned about someone who claims to be an officer with LPD is welcome to call the non-emergency number at 806-775-2865 or the front desk at 806-775-2817.
