Once upon a Monday, I found myself browsing along on reddit as usual. And lo, behold! A fella by the username of Pixelated_Pizza on the r/Amarillo subreddit asked a question that I never knew had to be asked....

Okay, I know this is a weird one and a bit of a long shot, but does anyone remember the old Pete's Car smart kia with the guy singing throughout the commercial, part of it is like "now i got a girl and a cart that i like a lot" and ends with "pete's car smart kia dot com baby". This popped into my head and i cant find it anywhere

If you're one of the fortunate ones who immediately recognize the jingle--then you know it was catchy. Anyone who drove anywhere in a car with the radio on in the late 2000s and early 2010s has definitely heard this tune.

Unfortunately, neither I or the replies to Mr. Pixelated_Pizza can seem to remember the exact lyrics to this song. But! One user made an interesting observation; apparently, it is strikingly similar to another ad done by FreeCreditReport.com, with a rhyme scheme and tune that seem oddly familiar.

Take a listen

Pretty close, right?

Even though I cannot remember the lyrics to the Pete's Car Smart Kia Radio ad, I can recognize that rhythm from anywhere. And to think that it may have been a ripoff has completely flipped my world upside down.

So to anyone who may have fond memories of this fun radio ad, I apologize for possibly ruining the nostalgia associated with it because I know it definitely has been ruined for me.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.
