Amarillo Welcomes New Casey’s General Store Location, Claude to Follow

Those traveling between Amarillo and Canyon on I-27 got a much-needed truck stop in 2022 when Cefco opened its doors at I-27 and FM 2219 in 2022. It was a great addition to the otherwise convenience store desert other than The Station, which was the Eskimo Hut's answer to a convenience store in that area.

Exciting Changes Coming to Amarillo's Convenience Scene

Fast forward to 2024, and it was announced that over 140 Cefcos were purchased by another convenience store chain out of the Midwest. Then, in August 2025, we shared that Casey's General Store was the convenience store that purchased the Cefco on I-27.

The switch has been happening little by little, and we now have an opening date for Casey's. The store located at 14901 I-27 will officially open as Casey's on February 20th.

Get ready for some changes. According to a frequent shopper of the store we spoke with, the employees are already wearing the Casey's brand.

That's not all, according to the Texas Department of Licensing, the Cefco in Claude is preparing for their transformation. The project is expected to begin in May with a completion date of August. The estimated cost of the update is $550,000 on the 4,635 ft store.

According to a Casey's representative, the Claude location is a few months out, and they encouraged us to check back around May for an update.

Casey's does offer a rewards program, and they have their own kitchen, so prepare yourself to dive into their famous pizza, and from what we are told, the breakfast pizza is where it is at. People who have shopped and eaten at Casey's are really excited to have it in Amarillo.
