I feel that in Amarillo we have really gotten good at avoiding the many potholes in our streets. We get to where we know where they are and like a game of Frogger we maneuver around the ones we see. That doesn't mean that we don't get taken by surprise every now and then.

It's like a new pothole just pops up to mess with us. Then we have to learn a whole new pattern. Yep, just like playing a video game. I guess it would be fun if it didn't come at the cost of our tires.

Georgia Street is the street I think I travel down the most. I know exactly where I need to move over a bit to avoid any and all potholes down that street. Or at least I thought I did. I had that memorized until late last week when a new one popped up.

The bad thing about this one is it seems like it is big enough to swallow a small car. Oh, and since I drive a small car I know. While driving down I first noticed it and tried to remember just where it was. At first memory, I knew it was on Georgia heading north from I27 and it was between 34th Street and Mockingbird.

So I knew that was where I needed to start paying attention. I knew it was closest to the sidewalk. I just needed to remember what business it was in front of my second passing. I remember thinking I wish it was in front of Amarillo National Bank.

I mean I feel they have some power to get it fixed pretty darn fast. As luck would have it that is exactly where it is located. Oh, and it looks like it was a pothole that was previously fixed because all the evidence is right up on the sidewalk in front of Amarillo National Bank.

That rain we got last week apparently helped in destroying what was once a patched street here in Amarillo. Not anymore. If you have not fallen victim to this pothole yet count yourself lucky.

I know that when they do get around to fixing it I will be hating that too because that area will have to be down to one lane but I feel it will be worth it. Please get this pothole that is big enough to swallow my small car fixed. I really do beg of the powers that be.

UPDATE: Massive Amarillo Street Pothole Already Has Improvements.
