It’s Official: Amarillo’s Route 66 Family Buffet’s Opening Is Close

After a seemingly eternal wait, the Route 66 Family Buffet team has given us another update on the opening of Amarillo’s brand-new buffet.

In a Facebook post, the family behind the Route 66 Family Buffet happily announced that they are getting closer than ever to opening their long-awaited restaurant. The post included images inside the restaurant, giving us a closer insight into the renovations that have been made.

According to the post, a delay in the health inspection date has caused a change in the unannounced opening date. But it was mentioned that the new date would be sometime after August 25th, giving us a much better idea of when Route 66 Family Buffet will open.

This ambitious project has had its twists and turns throughout its duration, going from a mere rumor throughout the Amarillo community all the way to where it is today.

Speculation surrounding this restaurant began in 2022 after business filings in relation to the building came to public attention. A newly filed business by the name of “Route 66 Family Buffet, LLC” had been found on a Bizapedia page in conjunction with The Holland Island, LLC which owned the building where the Route 66 Family Buffet would open.

Managers from this mysterious new buffet reached out and confirmed that this would indeed be a new buffet in the Amarillo area.

Initially, Route 66 Family Buffet was projected to open in September or October of 2022, but this optimistic opening was delayed due to construction and renovation difficulties. But after a great deal of hard work from the team behind Route 66 Family Buffet, we have been given a close timeframe of when it is set to open.
