I may be slow to the party but I had no idea that Amarillo had luxury apartments. I ran across this the other day so of course, I was interested. It didn't surprise me that they were located in Downtown Amarillo.

Over the years that area has really changed. I would have never even considered living in that area. Nowadays, well maybe. Until I saw how much it would cost. That was not going to happen.

I knew that Downtown Amarillo had The Firestone. I had heard about the Residence at 600 I just never looked into them. Until I saw a post on Facebook that said they only had five apartments left to rent. So I was curious.

If you don't know about these apartments they are luxury apartments in Amarillo. OK? I didn't know that was a thing but I guess so. They are located in the Firstbank Southwest Building. You know the one that houses the Amarillo Club as well.

I guess it really was the prices that threw me for a loop. I will say that the apartments do look nice. They even have an area for you to take your dogs for a potty break without leaving the building. That is nice. Still the price though.

Who Can Afford This?

Looking at their website they have a total of fourteen apartments. All but five are rented out. If you are looking for a one-bedroom, one-bath, you are out of luck. Those are all leased.

But hey if you need a two-bedroom you are in luck. Just like every other apartment, you will just have to have the funds, which includes a $2000 deposit. Let's talk rent for these.

Life is good if you can afford the $2975 per month. Even if you have a roommate you are still looking at just under $1500 a month. That is for a 1600-square-foot apartment. Wow. There is even one apartment available for $3225 per month.

I get it I am in radio. This is way too rich for my blood. I just couldn't imagine spending $35,000 a year on rent. Kudos to those that can afford this. Since there are seven apartments already rented out there are people in Amarillo that can afford this.
