We have all seen it. It's right there off I-40 West, between the Grand and Ross-Osage exits. It's that building with all the cowboy and horse statutes outside; the one with the sign that says "The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum".

But guess what? Until the other day, I'd never even set foot inside of the place.

I finally decided to go inside to see what it was all about. And let me say this place is impressive. This is the place to to learn about not only the American Quarter Horse breed but also on the cowboys and cowgirls that made that breed famous.

When you first arrive at the museum, you'll see a bunch of American Quarter Horse and cowboy statutes on the outside, but you will also see a wall with two different perspectives. From the east, you will see a wall of running American Quarter Horses; from the west, you will see the granite bricks with inscribed tributes to the people and horses influential within the industry.

Then you enter inside, and that is when the fun starts. To your left is their gift shop and best remuda award showcase. The best remuda award is an award that the AQHA gives out in recognizing a group of outstanding performance by a working ranch remuda.

Once you go around their Dogwood statue (a 3-D rendition of Orren Mixer's ideal American Quarter Horse), you will then encounter the grand hall which honors the Men, Women, and Horses that made the American Quarter Horse what it is today.

And that's just at the entrance. There is so much more for you to discover and witness at the American Quarter Horse Museum. It's a place that's well worth the visit.
