Good news and bad news is exactly how the Amarillo Library addressed the upcoming Friends of the Library book sale. It's still happening, but there are some adjustments being made.

It will be a virtual event. You have to hand it to the Library. They've done all they can since early last year to still service the community while being safe. A lot of adjustments have had to be made for everything; from how we get books to AMA-Con being split between indoors and outdoors.

The sale is this Saturday, Sep 11. They will post a link on Facebook at 9 AM that will take you to the sale. If you get their newsletter, you'll receive the link that way as well.

If you're looking for more than books, there will also be movies and audio books. The prices are pretty cheap, so it might be worth checking out just to see what they have.

The reason why they've decided to go virtual again, according to their announcement on social media, is the hospitalization rate in Amarillo. We've been consistently over 15% for a few weeks, and the organizers feel as if it would be in the best interest of the community to play it safe.

I can appreciate that, and think we all can. It's not nearly as fun as an in-person sale, sure, but it there is still a way for it to happen. That's better than no sale at all.

For more information be sure to keep up with the Amarillo Public Library on Facebook and keep an eye out for the link Saturday morning.
