DPS Releases Contraband Serizures Total For 2014

It seems at leas every other day another traffic stop on I-40 turns into seizure of various illegal contraband.  But how much are the authorities confiscating? Quire a bit.

In 2014 the DPS conducted 219 seizures of contraband and illegal drugs during traffic stops for minor violations.  This breaks down to over $33 million dollars in drugs and currency.

The list of substances seized read much like the tour rider for any given Rolling Stones concert.  The DPS seized over 4,000 pounds of marijuana, nearly 500 pounds of meth, 100 pounds of cocaine, nearly 30 pounds each of heroin and hashish.  And not to be left behind a half pound of crack was also discovered.

If you're looking for an illicit good time it seems all you have to do is walk along I-40 with your thumb out.
