NOT SO FAST ATLANTA:

The Houston Astros overcame a fast start and a 1st inning Grand Slam by the Braves. How did they do it? Taking it back to the basics and using small ball to get runs across the plate. Dusty Baker rearranged the batting order and used a different approach at the plate and it worked.

BACK TO THE BASICS:

It appears the bats of Altuve, Bregman, Gurriel, and Altuve are starting to wake up, and perhaps the biggest at-bats yesterday came from catcher Martin Maldonado.  At one point, he went up with the bases loaded and stood there forcing the pitcher to throw strikes. It worked, he drew a bases-loaded walk. He understood his assignment for the good of the team. He went a very quiet 1-3 with a walk, a sac fly, and a single driving in three runs. He was the player of the game.

The Houston Astros live to fight another day and really put that home-field advantage to use. Games 6 and 7 (if necessary) are back in Houston at Minute Maid, get your popcorn ready.
