My family was just driving home from Rick Husband International Airport. It was a long trip and we just needed some food and get home to unpack a little. It was time for baby Laila to get to sleep too.

We decided to order from Burger King on Georgia's app grab the food and head home. As we are waiting in line we watch this helicopter go by. Now that might not normally be a big deal but this helicopter was not in the sky. Nope, we watched it drive right past us on Georgia Street.

That is not something you see every day.  At least I know I don't. So as we grabbed our food we wanted to see where it went. It drove into the Holiday Inn Express on Wolflin.

A helicopter from KTTV out of Los Angeles. A FOX station.

It was just sitting there on a trailer waiting. Waiting for what? Were they heading to Los Angeles? Was this a new helicopter? Why was it here? I just knew someone had the answer. I needed to know.

So what did I do? I went to Facebook, of course. I knew one of my friends knew something. I have a lot of great friends that know an awful lot.

So I did hear from Braden who had some insight:

It’s a TV lease from Heli Inc. 2003 so not new delivery. Was most recently flown around St Louis, so most likely KTTV uses it most the time but it gets leased around.

So they lease it out. It is making its trip back home. I guess it's cheaper to drive it than fly it home so that makes sense.

I feel that Amarillo needs one of these, even for a short time. Maybe let's get one during this upcoming Tri-State Fair season to watch what is going on out there. I mean that is where everyone will be. We won't miss a thing.

We can also do live traffic reports. Live from I40 or I27. Why not? Amarillo come on one of our stations need to lease this out just once so we can get some big city feel for more than just our murders.
