First, I'm going to virtually tip my hat to organizers. At least they're moving forward and still having the event this year. Second, I have to admit I giggled a little bit playing this out in my mind.

The event will take place on October 17. It will last from 4 PM until 5:30 PM. Yes, it will be hosted online.

I'm imagining a massive video conference call with a bunch of people drinking beers, eating sausage, and wearing Oktoberfest themed costumes.

There will be different events you can participate in virtually, as well. There's a virtual stein hoisting event, a virtual yodeling contest, a best dressed competition, and a best drinking vessel competition.

Tickets for the event will get you four unique beers from Pondaseta Brewing Co., 1 LB of German style sausage from Edes Custom Meats, a custom pint glass, and the opportunity to participate in the events.

Personally, the best part of it all for me is the "theme," 2020 Is The Wurst.

As silly as the idea of sitting around in front of a webcam drinking and eating while wearing a costume sounds, it might actually be a little fun. Especially considering that we don't get have many events like this right now.

Virtual may not be how we prefer to gather, but it may be all we get for a little while longer. With the Governor easing restrictions, hopefully we'll be back to having in-person events soon.

For more details on the virtual Oktoberfest, you can check out the event's page, or check out their post on Facebook.
