Independence Day was a busy one for local law enforcement.

Overall the holiday was relatively safe.  There were no reports of homicides or fatalities.  There were arrests for DUI and firework possession and discharging.

The agencies, including Amarillo Police increased patrols for the holiday.  The APD issued more than 30 citations for fireworks, up from 27 in 2013.  They also made seven arrests related to DUIs.  Over 400 reports of fireworks in the city limits were reported.

Texas DPS reports in 26 Panhandle counties there around 35 arrests for DUI in the panhandle.

There were several fender benders but no main accidents and it appears none of the major accidents did not involved DUIs.
