On Monday around 4:30pm, Amarillo Police executed a search warrant at a home in the 4000 block of Pine Street.

Acting on a tip provided by an out-of-state agency the APD arrested Kevin Yale Cotney, 48 during the search.  Cotney was allegedly in possession of a cell phone that contained graphic images of a local juvenile female. Detectives seized computers and other hardware, data storage discs, and other items to determine if more evidence is present.

The investigation began last year when the APD was contacted by the out-of-state agency.  The APD, working with the Dallas Police Department were able to identify and contact the victim.

Cotney was allegedly using several different apps to communicate with the victim.  The victim states she thought the person she was communicating with was close in age to her.
