Xcel Energy has completed work on a new high-voltage transmission line in north Amarillo.

The new line will help boost reliability and network capacity for the outer rings of the city.  The line in just on in a series of planned upgrades to the city's transmission system.

The 115-kilovolt line runs six miles between two new substations on Cherry Avenue South and Hastings Avenue.  The total cost of the project including the substations was $21.3 million.
